HIGHWAY Magazine

In search of a new editorial and business model for my music writing, I stepped out of my comfort zone, took a critical look at the music publishing scene and conceived and created, “a pocket-sized companion to the musicians, artists, writers, thinkers, documentarians, storytellers and objects we encounter.” Aside from establishing international distribution and garnering international press, here’s what else happened along the way on my biggest independent project to date.

Highway Magazine

Beginnings. H5 Bottom Margin needs to be reduced here.

I’m a bit long winded on this one but I fear that’s the only way…the short version is I conceived and bootstrap produced an original print and digital magazine that achieved international distribution and acknowledgement from the National Endowment for the Arts for changing the conversation about music and sound culture. I quit my job for it after all so it’s worth reading if you want to get to know me better 😉

Simple h5 looks different in “Design System” page
Copy new h5 style and make it left align and same black color. Need h5 with class “left.”

This is class, “project-left”. Was this declared? This paragraph should be left aligned, matching the left edge of the image……….After a few prototypes, sessions with my art director and plenty of writing, editing and strategizing, the publication’s design, approach and mission turned into something real. The magazine’s pocket-sized design was intended to serve as a companion for stimulating conversation wherever a reader went while also encouraging the face-to-face sharing and borrowing of its content.

Copy h5 style and make it right align and same black color. Need h5 with class “right.”

This is class, “project-right”. Was this declared? This paragraph should be right aligned, with the right margin matching the right edge of the images………..After a few prototypes, sessions with my art director and plenty of writing, editing and strategizing, the publication’s design, approach and mission turned into something real. The magazine’s pocket-sized design was intended to serve as a companion for stimulating conversation wherever a reader went while also encouraging the face-to-face sharing and borrowing of its content.

This is class “ux-content” which was not declared and not necessary. Not sure where to use this, looks same as h4 above.

This is paragraph class “project” and am not sure what we’re doing with this either. For writing on this website, I should only use “p” tag. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. Deserunt doloremque eaque itaque iure mollitia odio quam unde. Consequatur consequuntur distinctio fugit ipsa itaque labore obcaecati porro quibusdam, ratione saepe voluptatibus!
